Madison's, London Street, Leicester
On of Leicester’s busiest street that leads to the town centre, is a place I discovered that is often overlooked. To my knowledge it was one of the first dessert parlours open before dessert parlours began trending. I love the old fashioned tea house style exterior, in keeping with the city’s history as well as giving it character and uniqueness. This is a far cry from newer modern style, fancy dessert parlours. A completely different story as you walk inside as it is has more modern but quirky interiors like funky wall art, range of sofa, chairs and each space different from the next. A classic range of hot foods like panini, quiches and mini pizzas, other light lunch bites, afternoon snack dishes, gelateria, cakes, other savouries and hot beverages. The main event for me of course is a window cabinet full of sweet treats. In the window I stare at the glorious cakes like a child in a sweet shop. The sound by mouth makes is ‘ooooh’s and aaaahhh’s as I look at the various choices and make a decision as to what I want. However out of all the choices I make (I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys have guessed) or for those that know me well, the image below speaks a thousand words.
I recently discovered this place has three stories, which is reserved for large group parties and other events. Last time Rakesh and I were there we were having a cosy and quiet evening, we were seated downstairs. I remember the funky wallpaper and block bright colours on the walls as well as the seating. Another one of those places I can spend hours in with just a hot beverage or a chocolatey dessert of course!
