The Cosy Club, Highcross Street, Leicester
It used to be difficult when going out to dine as a vegetarian or vegan. However it is becoming easier as restaurants and chefs are becoming creative with their dishes (so refreshing that a bean burger is not the only option available).
One of the best franchise restaurant that Krupa and I love to dine at is The Cosy Club located near Leicester's shopping centre and after a long day of shopping or working this place is the place to chill out. Our eyes light up when we dine there as they have many options available. The different menus The Cosy Club offer are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free. (This might be different with the current COVID-19 restrictions placed on restaurants).
Rakesh had vegan fish and chips with mushy peas. The batter was crispy, inside it looked like tofu that had been wrapped with seaweed. This certainly replicated the fish taste you would get down your local chippy. The chips were chunky, crispy on the outside with a soft middle and the peas were nice and moist, not too dry. It certainly replicates the real thing!
Krupa had the gruyere cheese and spinach tart and what a delight it was as it was served with herby potatoes and garlic tender stem broccoli. Delicious flavours and feels like eating something healthy with the amounts of greens on the plate! Each flavour was so distinct and the whole combination really works, as it is classic cheese and spinach in a crispy pastry. The meat and two veg concept really work with this dish as the meat alternative was simply divine.
The ambience is first class, the welcome that you get from the staff is absolutely brilliant and they are very attentive. The choice of drinks are mesmerising. All cocktails and mocktails are inventive, which compliments the dishes very well.
Whether you are having breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner including desserts there are not enough superlatives to describe all of the dishes.
