Paneer Hot Dogs

Not the same but a great alternative!

Of course not the real thing but one made up to eat like a hot dog and a twist with spice in the ingredients. Paneer a firm cottage cheese that originates from the Punjab section of India. It absorbs any flavour added to it, a little like tofu so for you vegans, you can use extra firm tofu for this recipe. The idea comes from community events and it’s a great adaptable recipe as you can make it as hot and spicy as you want or sweet and spicy, either way this is a great recipe for you chilli lovers out there. It is flavoursome without being overpowering, to me the right balance of sweet and spice.

Ingredients:

1 block Paneer

1 piece Red Peppers

2 cloves Garlic, crushed

2 tbsp Chilli Sauce

2 tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce

2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup

1 ½ tsp Chilli Powder

Salt, to taste

Method:

1)Marinade the paneer and the peppers a night before or a couple hours before, using all the above ingredients.

2)Toss in a pan and stir fry gently in a little oil to warm everything through, avoid stirring too much as the paneer or tofu you use can crumble quickly.

3) Serve in a finger roll with iceberg lettuce, finely cubed cucumber and mint sauce that is mixed through with yogurt.

Make it a meal suggestion: A side of  new potatoes tossed in oil, rosemary and thyme herbs and a seasoned with salt and pepper to taste makes a great compliment to this dish.
