Macaroni Cheese

Classic and Creamy with a change 

I love mac and cheese especially when I began to make my own white cheese sauce I never looked back and began to find variations besides a basic mac and cheese. The first variation came from seeing a chicken, mushroom and sweetcorn pie and tv and I thought that could work without the chicken in the pasta instead of in a pie.

Mac and Cheese: Text

Ingredients:

500g Macaroni Pasta

150g Mushrooms, sliced

1 can of Sweetcorn

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp black pepper

Salt to taste

Pre-made White Cheese Sauce


Method:


1 )Make the white cheese sauce.


2) Boil the pasta and in the meantime cook the mushroom season with salt and a teaspoon of black pepper and cumin powder. When nearly cooked through add in the sweetcorn, stir and its ready.


3) Once pasta is boiled, place the white cheese sauce on a slow heat and add the pasta in the sauce along with mushroom and sweetcorn. Combine and serve.

Green Mac and Cheese

Greens are good for you!

The next variation came from me having deficiencies in some vitamins and been told to eat more greens so I love spinach and broccoli and thought this combination would work well and tasty just as great.

Ingredients:

500g macaroni pasta

1kg bag baby spinach

1 broccoli, chopped

½ tsp nutmeg

1 clove of garlic

Pre-made white cheese sauce

Salt and pepper


Method:


1)Make the white cheese sauce.


2) Boil the pasta and broccoli in the same pan and in the meantime cook the spinach. Wilt the spinach down in a little oil and add grated garlic, nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste. Cook on medium heat until wilted and its ready.


3) Once pasta and broccoli is boiled, place the white cheese sauce on a slow heat and added in the pasta and broccoli, stir through and serve.


All these recipes can be altered to the veggie used or made plain and simple, and can be topped with breadcrumbs and cheese and baked.
